엄마의 숲

- 권오정-

      

동구 밖 유년의 동산

꿈속에 내 어머니 날 안아 올리시던 곳

 

부러운 눈길 몰라라 댕기 머리 처녀들

긴 동아줄 잡고 그네 타던 곳

 

들 가운데 당산나무 숲속

멋들어진 연리목 소나무

 

이토록 늠름한 기상으로 튼실하게 지켜주심을

예전엔 미처 몰랐지요

 

세월 훌쩍 흐른 이제사 어머님 여기에 계신걸

무명 앞치마 자락 애끊는 정 어이 두고 가셨는지

 

메뚜기 뛰놀던 황금벌판

봄 냇가 버들피리 불던 곳

 

떠나도 다시 또 가는 기약 없는 유년의 그리움

마음 한 잎 거둘 곳 없는 허망한 놀이터로 떠납니다.

My Mother's Forest

Kwon Oh-jeong

  

On a little hill of my youth at the outskirts of a village

my mother used to raise me up in her arms

 

Where young maidens with the ribbons on their hair

used to enjoy on a swing indifferently to the envious eyes

 

Two great pine trees has become one in natural graft

in the middle of a field where a tree shrine stands

 

I didn't know how supportive you were

with vigorous spirit protecting us by then

 

After so many years have passed, I now realize

you are here with all your motherly affection left behind

 

In the golden field where locusts were jumping around

by the stream I used to play a willow pipe in spring

 

Longing for the youth long gone in time takes me in vain

to the playground that can't take a piece of my mind
